RECORDING AND MIXING

What We Do

We want to help musicians at any point of their songwriting process.

If you're a songwriter who wants to take their tracks to the next level and get some drums, bass and guitar or any other instruments you can think of on there, then come to our studio space and lay down a few tracks and have a chat with us about what direction you want your music to go in and how we can get it there.

If you have everything written and planned out and want speedy, efficient tracking, editing, mixing and mastering, then we can certainly help you with that too, Multitrack recording or live sessions can all be done in house.

Just focus on playing your best and let us worry about how you sound!

Having had experience with London jazz, rock, metal and pop bands, we have developed a good understanding of what people find most important while recording.

There is an art to every aspect of being in the studio, and every aspect is carefully considered for musicians in our sessions.

For example, creating a good cue mix is vital so that musicians can hear only the instruments they need to have in their ears while recording, especially in a live recording setup. Mic placement and capturing the sound as best as possible from the source is also vital to maintain a healthy creative flow and stop us from getting bogged down too much in the mixing stage

The PROcess

The process of getting your songs from written to released is customisable, and we will listen to every artists needs. As standard, we will start with a free consultation about your style, what artists or styles you listen to and what sound you're going for and then have a discussion about how best to go about getting the sound that you have in your head. Also, an evaluation of your space is necessary, with our isolation techniques, isolating the sound is a lot easier and yields better results when we can plan the positioning of instruments and mics beforehand.

This is followed by a personalised session plan which will be made and sent over to you for your approval. The session plan is made to make sure that while tracking in the studio your time is utilised as efficiently as possible so we can set up and tear down as quick as possible and focus on recording.

The next stage is to book recording time where we will track each instrument (if multi-tracking) at least three times over to ensure the best quality takes are available.

Then the editing and mixing starts, depending on the complexity of the tracks as discussed in the pre-track meeting this could take 3 days to a week for a complete mix.

The tracks will be put into a shared google drive folder for review. Any changes or suggestions are always welcome, this is about getting the sound that you want so don't be hesitant.

Following the mix, the track will be mastered and bounced into your desired format.

After the mix and mastering is complete they can be delivered in a format of your choice; WAV, MP3 or AAC are all available, and loudness will be changed depending on which format you desire, as a standard it will be mastered to streaming levels for Apple Music/Spotify.
